FIRST WOODEN COASTER WITH A DOUBLE BARREL-ROLL

WOODEN ROCKETS

Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO is now home of the record breaking "Outlaw Run", a 16 story wooden roller coaster that inverts its passengers...3 times. With an incline of 81 degrees it reaches speeds of up to 68mph making it the current steepest and second fastest wooden roller coaster in the world and the only one with a double barrel-roll. The previous steepest wood coaster, Korea's "T Express" located in Everland amusement park, has a 77 degree incline and the woodie "El Toro" in Six Flags Great Adventure still holds the title for fastest at 70mph.
Requiring over 450,000 board feet of lumber to construct, "Outlaw Run" has six layers of wood known as "stack track" (or "topper track") that will not contract and expand with weather or loosen because of train movement. And, as a sign of the times in America, some of that massive amount of wood has gone to make room for our massive asses. That's right, the cars on this coaster are designed to handle riders up to 320 pounds (145Kg) which may sound like a comfortable idea to some of you...until you consider being on the outside seat in the curve and have 320lbs riding you at 3 Gs! Oh well, at least there's something exciting to do in Branson now.
The "Outlaw Run" was designed by Fred Grubb and his Rocky Mountain Construction Co. It has a 48" minimum height requirement and a maxium height of 80" (6'8").
